2016 COHEAO Annual Conference Advocacy Page

Visits to Capitol Hill are an integral part of the COHEAO Annual Conference. All conference delegates are encouraged to schedule meetings with their Senators and Representatives.

Below you will find relevant information as well as links for state-level data on the Perkins Loan Program. This page will be updated with additional materials and information for your visits to Capitol Hill.

In order to maximize the effectiveness of your visits to Capitol Hill, we highly recommend you put together some relevant, basic information on the Perkins Loan fund at your individual institution. This information may include the number of borrowers, loan volume, cancellation data, award data, and recipient data on your individual campus.

Maps & Logistics

With multiple office buildings for the House and Senate, the Capitol Hill complex can be a bit confusing.  However, these handy maps and travel information should help you with your visit to Capitol Hill.

**Please note:  Congressional offices are also easily accessible by taxicab and it is a relatively small fare, roughly $12-17, to and from the Capitol from the Ritz Carlton Pentagon City.

Conference delegates received an email on setting up appointments and coordinating meetings with fellow attendees included contact information for the education staff for your Representatives and Senators. Once you have set your appointments, please email Cindy Schick of the COHEAO Board of Directors or Hannah Allen of the COHEAO staff.  If you are interested in being paired with a more experienced attendee, please contact Cindy Schick or Hannah Allen.

As appointments are secured, please be sure to forward the information to Cindy Schick.  On behalf of COHEAO, Cindy is putting together a master calendar of appointments by group that will be available at the annual meeting
