On Friday, the Subcommittee on Communications and Technology, a subcommittee of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, is convening a hearing on H.R. 3035, the “Mobile Information Call Act of 2011,” legislation to reform the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA) to allow for the use of auto-dialers in contacting mobile phones.
In advance of the hearing, which is this Friday (November 3), the bill’s sponsor, Rep. Lee Terry (R-NE) is seeking letters of support from COHEAO member colleges and universities. If this issue affects your office (or your vendors), please consider sending a letter of support for H.R. 3035.
Our apologies for the late notice of this request, but it is important for COHEAO members to show support for this legislation. A sample letter is attached. The letter is somewhat generic in nature and we encourage you to include specific information related to the activities of your organization.
Additionally, due to time constraints, the letter template is written to come from an individual. If you can obtain the necessary approvals to have the letter sent on behalf of your institution in time before the hearing, we would encourage you to do so. If you have any questions about this issue, please feel free to contact Wes (whuffman@wpllc.net, 202.289.3910)
Please send your letters to Wes Huffman (whuffman@wpllc.net) to ensure they are delivered promptly to the Subcommittee in advance of the hearing.
